Kelsey Tucker’s entry into the land development field began with an invitation from GWC Capital President Brandon Henry to join as an executive assistant.
“I didn’t really know much at all about GWC,” Kelsey said. “But I knew Brandon through other connections, and that’s how this exciting chapter began.”
Improving While Building Strong Relationships
For Kelsey, the best part of her job is the constant interaction with coworkers and the opportunity she has to help build strong business relationships.
“It’s fulfilling to assist in both small and significant tasks and see how they fit into the bigger picture of the growing company,” Kelsey said. “There’s so much going on, and I’m grateful that I get to be part of it all.”
Every day brings something different to the table, and Kelsey is able to see firsthand how the company’s core values affect the work. She resonates the most with “We Continuously Improve.”
“I believe that if we’re adaptable and always striving to evolve, only positive things can come from that,” Kelsey said. “Projects in land development can grow beyond expectations by adapting to the needs of the community and the economic circumstances.”
Navigating Challenges and Growth
She’s grateful for GWC Capital and its parent company, Clyde Companies, who have taken Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion efforts to ensure everyone in the room always has a voice.
“Collaboration between men and women in this field can bring diverse perspectives and creative ideas to the table, leading to even greater success,” Kelsey said. “This has been shown time and time again at companies in many different fields.”
With land development being closely related to construction, Kelsey appreciates that she hasn’t encountered many challenges as a woman in the industry. She knows just how important it is to always ask questions and step outside her comfort zone.
“It’s essential to know that you’re a valuable team player, no matter what you have to offer,” Kelsey said. “Believe in yourself and learn from others to grow both personally and professionally.”
Finding a Successful Work-Life Balance
Nobody has seen Kelsey’s efforts to be a team player better than Michelle Gedde.
“With GWC having three offices spread out by hundreds of miles, there are things that I cannot do from my office,” Michelle said. “Any and every time I ask Kelsey to help, she is always willing and responds so quickly to my requests. I really appreciate that she is always willing to help, no matter what is needed!”
